What is your favorite piece of furniture? I know a lot of you are into architecture, design, and just well-made goods in general. So, favorite piece of furniture should be interesting! Either a particular style, or a specific item. Go!
I’m a huge fan of the le corbusier lc2/lc3 lounge chairs and sofas (lc3 lounge chair reproduction above). Surprisingly very comfortable, and a lot less common than, say, an Eames lounge chair.
Also, tanker desks. I like a big, heavy desk that can take a beating. I’ve got a few Craigslist tanker desks bookmarked for later.... Also, you can find these all day for dirt cheap. Or pay a hipster at a boutique furniture shop multiple thousands for a “hand-worked” vintage piece if you hate money. Just check Craigslist.
LLast but definitely not least... Anything with rivets and/or some serious welding work. Here are two Instagram Craftsman I follow, one of whom is local.
Here’s the rivet guy:
And the welder (who worked at 425 motorsports for years!)
Before wax and final stain
After. Saw these benches in person. They are beautiful

I’m a sucker for loungers. Eames and Barcelona

Eames lounge. Always. I haven’t bit the bullet on purchasing one (or a knockoff) but I do have some lounge style bar stools that are shockingly comfortable and pretty.
Although Peugeot made a pretty sweet carbon fiber and stone couch of which I am quite fond. That said, I think I could find other things to spend $200k on...

I love these things.
On Wayfair it is under “Annessia.” It is diesel punk and aviator inspired stuff. I also like nice wood work and metal work, but I do not have the time to find it at the moment.

I’d like a Wooten desk, because I have a lot of stuff to organize:
I’d also like a barrister bookcase with leaded glass panels:

Barcelona Bench!
And a shoutout to something I can actually afford, my Poang + footrest. Incredibly ergonomic.

The 60’s tulip dining sets. I’ve semi inherited an Arkana set that needs restoring as they’ve been stashed in a barn for 20 years.

I’d love having an LC3... I have a very nice leather chair and ottoman in my den, but it’s more comfy than stylish. I have one of those tanker desks, too, but it’s in my garage as a secondary toolbench/storage.
That wooden chair is beautiful. My aesthetic [rolls eyes] is modern, but comfortable, stuff that would still feel at home in a mountain lodge (lots of natural materials). Not sure if I could live in an uber-modern, strictly geometric space, although I like looking at them and spending time in places like those.
Quick image search - I’d be happy here:

I’m really into dolphin themed furniture. https://porthuron.craigslist.org/fuo/d/moving-must-sell-rare-life/6499199490.html
I’m just kidding.
I like those benches though. Modern aesthetics in general. Although most of my furniture is a hodge podge just cause most of it was free or bought cheaply off craigslist.

I’ll have to get a picture when I get home.
My favorite piece of furniture is a corner cupboard that I inherited. I like the style, but it’s the backstory that seals the deal.
My great-grandfather was a very accomplished and well known woodworker in my area. When my parents were engaged he decided to build them a corner cupboard to give as a wedding gift.
He passed away two months before the wedding, and the cupboard wasn’t yet finished. About 6 months after the wedding my great-grandmother told my mom about it, and my mom got to work finishing it. He had finished all the pieces but hadn’t yet started to finish the pieces, add the hardware, or do final assembly.
She had learned woodworking by spending days off school in his workshop, and I love how it turned out.

The problem I’ve had is the knockoffs are still $500 - $800! While new real ones are $5,000, one can assume they’re pretty much going to last forever and retain their value much better.

That bookcase is gorgeous. I have two lawyer bookcases from the early 1900's with stained glass. I still think that the stacking sections is genius and should be more common in modern furniture

I think the Globe Wernicke et al bookcases might have been the first successful modular furniture. I know the dark oak tones and overall design aren’t hip for the youngs, but I really have a thing for these. I’ve often thought about getting a set, but I really want leaded glass and/or a complication, like the odd doors at the bottom, or a desk section.
I generally don’t care for frilly Victorian furniture, but I like those complicated desks for a somewhat similar reason - they were quite high tech in the 1870s, nothing had existed like that before.
sm70- why not Duesenberg?

As cliche as it is (you mentioned it in your post) we’ve got a pair of Eames loungers in our living room and I love them.
I’m also a fan of whatever 50's furniture my bedroom has, no idea what it’s called but it’s actually about 65 years old and extremely
heavy.
